The fastest man on the earth, the man who won the three gold medals at the recently concluded Olympic Games in London could soon be ducking for cover. No, not in that way but he could be facing upto bouncers from the likes of Brett lee, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Johnson in the Big Bash league.

Preliminary inquiries have been made, discussions held and if all goes to plan we could see Usain Bolt turning out for the Melbourne Stars in the New Year. This is what Bolt said to the Australian media.

"Shane Warne contacted me and asked me about if I am serious and if I really want to do it then he can put in a few words that should get it done. So we will see if I get the time off. I will try. Twenty20, I love it."

Bolt played cricket as a youngster but this will be a whole new theatre for him and if he expects an easy ride then he does not know the Aussies.

I don’t know if this would be a cricket related decision or marketing related one, as he may not get many games but he will surely sell a lot of merchandise. On a broader note I think it will make the game popular in many other countries especially the T20 format.

I sincerely hope we get to see him in one of the best T20 Leagues in the world, but only for the right reasons.

Then I think and recollect that Usain bolt had expressed interest in playing for Manchester United, which confuses me as to what is going on in his brain. As they say whatever happens, happens for a reason, let’s see what the reason turns out to be.
