The Race Track Under the Night Sky |
There are events that are just bigger
than others, and one of those that take the cake for me is the grand prix of Singapore .
Scheduled for the weekend of September 23rd 2012, it is one of those
things that gets the pulses racing :).
It’s a sight when cars go wheel
to wheel at astronomical speeds and it gets better, so much better under the night
sky. It really is a sight for the sore eyes.
What will make the race even more
appetizing is the fact that with 7 (Including this one) races still to go in
the season at least 6 drivers can realistically harbor hopes of being the world
champion, with potentially 175 points still up for grabs even a difference of
Seventy-eight points can be made up. As for the winning team with potentially
43 points up for grabs in every race any of the Red Bull Racing – Renault,
Mclaren – Mercedes, Ferrari or Lotus Renault could win.
Sure since the circuit opened in
2008 Fernando Alonso has won two out of four races, one in Ferrari one in
Renault so history favors him but last year Sebastian Vettel won and went on
the become world champion. So the track remains an open one and does not favour
any one in particular. Lewis Hamilton after Italy
will be amongst the favorites and Sergio Perez would want to impress after what
he did in Italy .
I would not be surprised if he is in a Ferrari or a Mclaren next year.
F1 is exciting at the best of
times but with all the permutations and combinations possible the excitement
has gone through the roof. I am a neutral and there is nothing better that just
sitting back and enjoying the thrills and spills of any duel. The fact that it
all happens under lights just is an amazing icing on the cake. There are many
great tracks around the world like Spa Franco Champs, Hockenheim and of course Monaco
but this for me is the best, with all happening under lights.
Must say I am drooling at the prospect
of fine racing at the weekend, just wishing I was at the track at Marina Bay
this weekend to enjoy the 61 laps of what I hope turns out to be an enthralling
race.
Also as an Indian I hope that
Force India does well, winning is probably asking too much, may be one or both
of Paul Di Resta and Nico Hulkenberg can secure points.
Can’t wait for five lights to go
out.
I am impatiently waiting for this year’s Singapore Grand Prix. This year is going to be a great fun.
