Gabriel Calderon has been named as the new
coach of Real Betis after the club sacked Juan Carlos Garrido. The 5-0
loss at home turned out to be the last game for Garrido who only took charge at
the club a mere five weeks ago.
Now the 53 year old Argentine who has
previously managed in France, Switzerland and the Middle East takes charge of
the club.
Calderon also played for the club between 1983
and 1987, making 74 club
appearances.
Speaking to reporters, the new Betis manager said,
“This has always been my dream. When a delicate
situation like this arises, everyone has to come together."
“When a loved one is sick, you have to pull
together. I come here with hope, and the belief that we can do well.”
