This is why Water Burns more than Fire

The word burn just does not mean that we all know, it also means “Cause a sharp or stinging pain or discomfort” and “Feel strong emotion, especially anger or passion”. Going back to the original or more well-known meaning is the context in which I write this.

In recent times I have felt there have been many issues or events that have occurred which have caused us to feel the anguish, some more than the others.

So here are these;

  1. We live in an era where every day we fret about the global warming, if the unthinkable does happen then we can only run but will have no place to hide, so we better be careful with what and how we do it.
  2. In international context, the stakes are higher; we have seen that Indian citizens have been shot while in waters by naval guards from Italy and USA in last 6-7 months. Nautical miles that every country has also do not help. Every country has its allocated nautical miles (24, I think) and have their exclusive economic zones and contiguous zones too. The Territorial Waters act etc. all makes it very confusing and hard to understand. One cannot rule out the diplomatic fallouts than can develop out of these incidents and then before you know it whole thing snowballs and leads to something major. The damage done can have lasting effects. I cannot imagine any kind of fire doing that can you?
  3. In Indian Context the river Cauvery water dispute almost brought the nation to a grinding halt. Specifically the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The tensions between the two states before the issue was resolved in February 2007 were frightening. Even today problems still exist and I for one would not be surprised if this issue reared its ugly head again.
  4. We use water to put out fires. No matter how big the fire is we can put those out with water and water will eventually get the better of it. Water however is invincible there is nothing that can conquer it. It may be too little or too much we are the losers. Perfect example – floods, droughts or tsunamis. sometimes the damage is eternal.
  5. Sure, the discovery of fire was important, man accomplished many things with it, without water though there is no basic food, nothing to eat, nothing to drink (hard or soft ;)). Can’t even imagine it.

Won’t be going into any more detail, let me know if you agree with me or not, or maybe you want to add something to the topic.  You are more than welcome.

Cheers.
